Cyprus in Three Cities: Limassol, Nicosia and Paphos

Cyprus is small enough to cross in a few hours, yet its main cities have very different characters. Here is a short, general portrait of three of them. Eurostia looks for residential property in these cities.

Limassol

Limassol is the island's best-known seaside city, with a promenade, a marina and an old town. It is also a business centre with an international community, which gives it a cosmopolitan feel.

Nicosia

Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus and the seat of its government and main institutions. Its universities, ministries and offices give the city a steady, year-round rhythm that does not depend on the tourist season. The old town, inside its Venetian walls, is a reminder of the city's long history.

Paphos

Paphos, in the west of the island, is known for its archaeological heritage, including the mosaics of the Paphos Archaeological Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has an international airport and a harbour area lined with restaurants, and it is generally quieter than Limassol.

Getting around

The three cities are connected by modern roads, and the island's two international airports at Larnaca and Paphos make it easy to arrive from Europe and the Middle East.

Choosing where to look

Which city suits which person depends on what matters to them: the sea, the capital's institutions, or the calm of the west. For Eurostia, each property is judged on its own merits rather than on the reputation of the city around it.
